The couple was first linked after they attended back-to-back Golden Globes after parties together. “Katy and Orlando had a total dance-off — it was the best part of the party,” a source told Us Weekly after CAA’s bash at Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood. “Katy literally dropped to the floor and was waving her booty around, beckoning Orlando.”
Perry and Bloom saw a production of The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey in Culver City, California, and posed for a photo backstage with the show’s star James Lecesne.
After Us confirmed that the pair were hooking up, they tried to avoid being spotted together inside the amfAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival in France. They even went so far as to sit at different — but adjacent — tables. Still, an eyewitness told Us that Perry and Bloom turned around and whispered to each other.
The “Roar” singer made her new romance official on Instagram when she shared a hilarious photo of herself and the Pirates of the Caribbean star sprawled on the steps of Cannes’ Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. “we can’t,” she captioned the post.
Bloom made headlines for going nude while paddleboarding with Perry on vacation in Italy. “It was extremely surprising,” he later told Elle UK about being photographed in his birthday suit. “I wouldn’t have put myself in that position if I’d thought it would happen.”
The lovebirds turned heads on Halloween when the Grammy nominee dressed as Hillary Clinton and the actor stepped out as Donald Trump ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Perry and Bloom debuted their matching, newly dyed blond hair. It didn’t last long, though. Just a few weeks later, the Lord of the Rings star returned to his natural brown color.
Us broke the news that the duo pressed pause on their romance. “Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time,” their reps said in an exclusive statement to Us. Two days later, Perry tweeted, “U can still b friends & love your former partners!”
The American Idol judge ranked her famous exes’ performances in bed during her 72-hour YouTube live stream. From best to worst, she said John Mayer, Bloom, and Diplo.
Perry and Bloom reunited and took a motorcycle ride to Ed Sheeran’s L.A. concert. A month later, she said on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mashup, “I think people are in and out of your life. It’s nice to keep people you love around you.”
Us exclusively revealed that the couple was officially back together. Perry later told Entertainment Tonight, “I have been spoken for … and I’m very happy!”
The “California Gurls” songstress swooned over a photo of her boyfriend’s abs on Instagram. “Oh hey! I was actually looking for a washboard to do my laundry on,” she commented.
Perry and Bloom met Pope Francis during the United to Cure conference at the Vatican in Italy. Earlier in the day, she called the actor her “darling” on Instagram.
After dating on and off for more than two years, the pair finally made their red carpet debut together at the Gala for the Global Ocean in Monaco.
A source told Us that “getting engaged is definitely a possibility in the future” for Perry and Bloom. “Obviously, they’re both very busy, but they prioritize communicating and working their schedules around each other,” the insider added. “They are very much in love, so an engagement wouldn’t be a surprise.” A second source noted that the couple is “also planning for a little one.” (Bloom already shares son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr, to whom he was married from 2010 to 2013.)
Bloom proposed to Perry on Valentine’s Day, the “I Kissed a Girl” singer’s mom, Mary Hudson, announced via Facebook. Perry confirmed the news by showing off her pink engagement ring via Instagram. “Full Bloom,” she captioned a selfie of the couple with red heart balloons in the background. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor shared the same picture on his Instagram page and wrote, “Lifetimes.”
